2 Days of Empty Uber Fun Surf, and the Loss of a Friend and Legend

Yo Surfriders, It's been awhile since I've posted. Second day in a row that I surfed PW with only Myself and Trey out. Today far exceeded my expectations , with some great stomach + reeling lines and the water feels great. It's with a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of my friend Hopie "the Nurse" Qual. It was 20 years ago this month that I moved Hopie to Wilmington and opened Marks of Distinction Tattoo Shop on Oleander Dr. It was the first tattoo shop in Wilmington , and now there is one on every corner. Hopie was the true trail blazer and one of the first women to go big in the tattoo industry. Hopie was an awesome artist and I'm sporting a lot of her work, and will always cherish to great times and tattoo's I shared with her. If it wasn't for Hopie I would have never met by beautiful wife Melissa. Hopie was a nurse , mother, friend and a hell of a character and I will miss her dearly. Going to try to dig up some old pix from the old days at Lucky Tiger and wild party nights. R.I.P. Hopie I will miss greatly and am happy I have so much to remember you by every time I look in the mirror , Andy
